Michael Toerpe

Michael Toerpe is one of Chicago's leading musicians offering a unique combination of experience, professionalism and consistency to his work. His rock solid drumming and unshaken work ethic have earned him a variety of experiences both on stage and off.

Being a native to the Chicago area, Michael began his career with dedicated study at both Northern Illinois University as well as College of Dupage in Percussion Performance. Toerpe's talent was quickly discovered. He began playing in various bands that allowed him to tour throughout the Midwest. Spending a number of years in the extremely popular funk revival acts, Generations and Disfunktion made him a regular in Chicago's night club scene and beyond.

Toerpe's experience is not exclusive to only live performance. He boasts 10 years of private percussion instruction as well as appearing on countless studio and commercial recording projects, including full length CD's with many of Chicago's most promising original bands. Currently, you can hear Michael on the Druthers band's self titled debut CD, which he co-produced .

Michael Toerpe is an accomplished musician. His experience and professionalism are evident in all of his work. As the co-founder, business manager and drummer of the Standing Room Only Orchestra, Michael intends to continue the practice of dedication to quality and excellence for many more years to come. Michael currently resides in Plainfield, Illinois with his wife, Jennifer and two children Alexandria and Adam.
